Consumer and
Community Involvement

Bring lived experience into health and medical research. WAHTN supports consumers, community members, and researchers in working together on the questions and decisions that matter.

ABOUT THE PLATFORM

Consumer and Community Involvement

WAHTN is committed to advancing consumer involvement across health and research sectors. The value of involving consumers in health and medical research cannot be underestimated.

Consumer Involvement brings a unique perspective to all areas of research including planning, policy, funding, evaluation and reporting, as well as participation in the research project.

Extensive research in Australia and internationally provides compelling evidence that the involvement of consumers in health and medical research achieves many benefits.

PARTNERSHIPS WITH PEOPLE

WAHTN Consumer and Community Involvement Program (CCIProgram)

The CCIProgram connects consumers and people with lived experience with health and medical researchers. It supports partnerships that bring community perspectives into research priorities, policy and practice.

Working with universities, research institutes, health services and non-government organisations, the team provides workshops, training, resources and support for meaningful involvement.

WAHTN and Monash Partners are the initiative’s lead centres, connecting local expertise with national efforts to make lived experience part of health and medical research.
