WAHTN PLATFORMS
Implementation
Science
Bridge the gap between research and everyday practice with practical knowledge, shared learning and connections across Western Australia.
TURNING EVIDENCE INTO PRACTICE
Helping research make a difference.
Implementation science studies the methods and strategies that help evidence-based practices become part of everyday healthcare and community settings. It addresses the gap between what research shows works and what happens in practice.
The WAHTN Implementation Science Platform
Launched in 2026, the platform provides foundational expertise, tools and training for researchers, clinicians, clinician researchers, policy makers and related professionals. It helps people work through the practical challenges of putting research into practice.
The platform brings together an Implementation Science Resource Library and The Implementation Café, developed by Edith Cowan University’s Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute.
Building capability across WA
The platform is developing opportunities to share local implementation work, build practical skills and connect expertise across Western Australia. Planned activities include a WA Implementation Science Community of Practice and collaboration with WAHTN partners to extend access to implementation science.

The Implementation Café
The Implementation Café helps health researchers, practitioners and related professionals understand implementation science and apply it when planning their research. It combines practical knowledge with a supportive community to strengthen the impact of health interventions.
Developed by Edith Cowan University’s Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute, the Café builds confidence, supports the exchange of experience and creates opportunities for researchers and practitioners to connect.
